Vision ASME will be recognized worldwide as a premier organization for the quality of leadership training and orientation provided to its volunteers.
Mission Ensure that ASME volunteers have the training needed to assume leadership positions of ever-increasing responsibility in the Society and that the skills gained from such leadership positions, in turn, enhance their professional careers.
Strategic Plan The VOLT Academy's Executive Committee conducted a strategic analysis in September 2007, including development of mid-and long-term strategies, resulting in the creation of a VOLT Strategic Plan. This plan will serve as a training road map that allows ASME to move vigorously forward. (Click here for Strategic Plan)
Who We Are VOLT is composed of an Executive Committee, five separate subcommittees and a project team; they are the Communication, Development, LTC, Program and the Senior Leadership Orientation committees, and the Balanced Scorecard Project team. (Click here for Who We Are)
Join Us! Involvement with VOLT offers you an opportunity to learn about and gain experience in training and leadership development. There are different ways to become involved, to fit your interests, schedule, and skills.

The ASME Leadership Path The ASME Leadership Path is the skills and knowledge you need for ASME leadership, whether you're the chair of a student section, a Vice President or a member of the Board of Governors. The VOLT Academy provides guidance in the development of a curriculum designed to help you obtain the skills and knowledge you need, along with the goals and measurements of success as you progress through the leadership development curriculum.
Each person learns in a different way. The VOLT Academy offers training and orientation combining online self-study resources supplemented with webcasts, face-to-face orientations and leadership development conferences, to allow you cost-effective and flexible options for "getting the job done." You'll find self-study resources on our "Leader Resources" page, and our calendar of events will keep you up-to-date on upcoming web and face-to-face orientations and conferences.
The detailed description of the curriculum philosophy and topics are found on the Leadership Path page of this web site. The Leadership Path is a work in progress, evolving as ASME evolves and resources are created and continually updated - check back often to look for what you need, and please e-mail us if you would like us to add a resource or have suggestions for how we can improve our web site. |
