Position Description :
The Future City Region in Georgia, based in greater Atlanta, is in need of mentors for many of the 50+ schools they have registered already for this year's National Engineers Week Future City Competition. If you have society members in Georgia, please ask if they would be willing to help. They can register directly online at - http://www.futurecity.org/register/engineer.asp .

What is the role of the engineering mentor?

The engineer (or engineering student) serves as an advisor to the students, usually a team of 3. The engineer is involved in all phases of the competition and provides input and technical assistance, integrating real life engineering experiences as the students work on the competition. The students do all the actual work, such as the computer design of the city, building of the tabletop model, writing the essay and presenting the project during the competition. Typical time commitment is 1 or 2 hours per week.
